Live updates: Trump headlines final day of RNC

The Republican National Convention reached its final day in Milwaukee on Thursday, culminating with former President Trump’s speech accepting the party’s nomination for president in 2024.

The first three days of the convention, held in the shadow of the assassination attempt on President Trump, were aimed at demonstrating unity and enthusiasm around President Trump’s third presidential bid. President Trump’s running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (D-Ohio), gave the convention’s first speech on Wednesday night, offering his view of where the party and the country should go.

While members of Trump’s family have been making appearances all over the place, two members who have not been spotted in Milwaukee so far are former first lady Melania Trump and his daughter Ivanka Trump, both of whom are expected to arrive in Milwaukee on Thursday night.

The Republican rally comes as the Democratic Party remains in deep turmoil, with President Biden hunkered down in Delaware to battle the coronavirus and party officials reportedly urging him to drop out of the 2024 presidential race.
