Vice President Harris on Tuesday chose Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (Democrat) as her running mate, ending weeks of speculation.
“Tim is a battle-hardened leader with an incredible track record of getting things done for Minnesota families,” the Harris campaign said in a morning text message to supporters.
Walz called serving as Harris’ running mate “the honor of a lifetime.”
The presidential candidate’s team has narrowed the Democratic field to about six candidates, and she reportedly met with all of them over the weekend.
Speculation about who she would choose began shortly after President Biden’s poor performance in a debate with Republican candidate, former President Trump, in late June, but remained merely speculation until July 21, when Biden announced he was dropping out of the race.
