It was truly a “Paul vs. Star” match.
Olivia “Livi” Dunn reflected on boyfriend Paul Skenes’ first MLB All-Star experience in a series of new photos she shared on Instagram on Wednesday.
The post, captioned “Highlights from the Paul vs. Star game,” shows the Louisiana State University gymnast and social media sensation cozying up to the Pirates rookie pitcher and playfully taking a selfie in front of a mirror wearing his National League jersey.
Dunn, 21, and Skenes, 22, were also smiling in another photo taken on board a private jet on the way to the All-Star Game, which began Tuesday at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
Skenes, who has dazzled the league since his electrifying MLB debut in May, pitched one scoreless inning against the American League on Tuesday before losing 5-3.
Dunn could be seen cheering on Skenes in the stands, and a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model was shown on Fox broadcast yelling, “Go Paul!”
Skenes, who confirmed she was dating Dunn last summer, told reporters after the All-Star game that it had been a unique experience.
“I don’t think I fainted there, but it was pretty close,” he said.
Skenes, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, is the first rookie to be named a starting pitcher in the MLB All-Star Game since Hideo Nomo nearly 30 years ago.
Skenes threw 11 of his 16 pitches as strikes during this outing.
He and Dan looked glowing as they held hands and posed for photos on the red carpet ahead of the Midsummer Classic.
Skenes, who currently boasts a 1.90 ERA, and the Pirates are scheduled to return to action on Friday in Pittsburgh for a three-game series against the Phillies.
Meanwhile, Dunn, a frequent visitor to PNC Park, is preparing for her fifth and final season as a member of LSU’s gymnastics team.
Dunn and the Lady Tigers won the program’s first gymnastics national title in April.
The New Jersey native announced her return to LSU earlier this month. Post to Instagram She’s “not Dan yet.”
