Paul Skeens Celebrates Cy Young Award with Family and Friends
Pirates pitcher Paul Skeens celebrated winning the Cy Young Award with a unique dessert, prosecco, and even a grizzly, as seen in an Instagram post by his girlfriend, Olivia “Libby” Dunn.
The tall right-hander, standing at 6-foot-6, posed with two bottles of La Marca Prosecco, showcasing large, illuminated letters that stated “Cy Young 2025.” He was honored as the unanimous winner of this year’s National League Cy Young Award.
Skeens and Dunn celebrated the achievement at home, surrounded by friends and family, and it was quite the moment, especially with their English Cream Golden Retriever making an entrance in the photo.
Other images from the celebration featured decorated cookies, a cake styled with a Skenes jersey, and even a picture of him pitching alongside the Cy Young trophy.
One photo highlighted a hefty batch of hot dogs grilling—definitely a nod to a good celebration vibe.
Dunn shared a lighthearted moment on social media, posting a picture of Skeens with a hot dog loaded with ketchup and mustard, playfully calling it a “certified flamboyant rip-off.”
She also commented on the joy of Skeens’ Cy Young win, especially when recalling his less enthusiastic reaction to winning the National League Rookie of the Year award the previous year.
Skeens, the first overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, had an impressive first full MLB season, leading the majors with an ERA of 1.97 and striking out 216 batters over 187 1/3 innings.
Despite the Pirates finishing last in the National League Central Division this year with a record of 71-91, Skeens expressed enthusiasm about fostering a strong team culture for the upcoming season.
“We need to revive that gritty, blue-collar personality of Pittsburgh. That’s my goal moving forward,” he stated.
He added, “Honestly, I wish spring training was already here…I can’t wait to get started on this journey.”
Skeens and Dunn confirmed their relationship in 2023.
