The Pittsburgh Pirates suffered a brutal loss to the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday afternoon, losing a 10-3 lead late in the game and ultimately losing 10-14 at home.

On this day, Pirates' genius starting pitcher Paul Skenes took the mound, pitching five innings, allowing five hits and two runs, while striking out six batters.

But in the end, his relief staff couldn't bring him another win in his rookie season, and his girlfriend, social media sensation Livi Dunn, a Louisiana State University gymnast, wasn't happy about it.

Dan posted a meme of Skenes having a great game against the Los Angeles Dodgers earlier this season on his X account, with the caption “Are you kidding me?”

But Dunn's feelings were similar to how many Pirates fans reacted to the game after the team went into the seventh inning with a seven-run lead.

However, Kyle Nicholas, who had kept the score at zero through the sixth inning, was forced to be replaced in the seventh inning after giving up a two-run homer to Christian Bethancourt to tie the score at 10-5.

Aroldis Chapman, who took over for Nicholas, made things even worse by giving up three runs in the top of the eighth to bring the score to 10-8.

The Pirates probably didn't need to bring David Bednar out of the bullpen, but they needed Bednar to step up and close the game out in the top of the ninth after Chapman's big inning.

However, that was far from the case, as the Cubs got three outs before exploding for six runs on the Pirates to take a four-run lead.

Bednar gave up five runs on just three hits and two walks, his sixth failed save of the year.

Unfortunately for Skenes, this isn't the first time this season he's seen his bullpen struggle after being replaced from the starting rotation, and it just so happened to come against the Cubs.

Skenes' MLB debut was electrifying, as he struck out seven batters on May 11 and threw a fastball that exceeded 100 mph 17 times.

But after a series of walks and a rainout, the Cubs scored seven runs in the top of the fifth to give the Pirates a 10-9 victory.
