Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) said on MSNBC's “Deadline” on Thursday that former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) was “brave” and “very Republican” for voting for Vice President Kamala Harris.
“What do you think about Liz Cheney's endorsement of Kamala Harris yesterday?” host Nicolle Wallace asked.
Lofgren said, “I'm proud of Liz. We worked hard together on the January 6th Committee. She and I are not politically aligned. She's a conservative Republican, I'm not. There are a lot of policy issues on which we don't agree. What we can agree on is the rule of law and protecting the Constitution. That's why we worked so hard on the January 6th Committee. Her statement will be important to a lot of people. She's deeply connected to the Republican Party.”
She added, “I remember there was a meeting during the January 6th committee. We were in a conference room. As I was sitting there, I looked at the wall and I noticed there was a picture of her father and the president hanging on the wall. So that's her roots. She's a Republican, so she would say the only way to respect the Constitution is not to not vote for Trump, but to vote for Kamala Harris, who is the only real alternative candidate. I think that's Liz's courage. Again, that's something I deeply respect about her.”
