Police said a lobster-themed monster truck performing for a crowd struck overhead power lines, knocking down several poles and sending two people to hospital, with several others suffering minor injuries.
On Saturday, a monster truck event was taking place at the Topsham Fairgrounds when a vehicle known as the “Crash Station” spun up a ramp, shot into the air and struck a power line. Video showed the trapped wire setting off a chain of events, toppling several utility poles and a transformer near the stands, sending power lines to the ground and sending people scrambling.

“I’m still a little shaken up,” said Mike Hersom, who was watching with his 3-year-old son and narrowly avoided a falling transformer.
He said he watched in disbelief for a moment, then quickly tried to get away. He said the video showed him how close the transformer had come to him and his son. “When I saw the video, I thought, ‘Oh my God, that’s crazy,'” he said Sunday.
Event organizers did not return emails.

The Maine-based monster truck is shaped like a lobster and is named “Crash Station” as a play on the word “crustacean.” The owner did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment on Sunday.
