A Long Island exterminator was arrested Thursday for allegedly getting a chemical on a 19-year-old girl’s clothes and then filming her undressing with a hidden camera he installed.
Nassau police said Walter Rivas of Holoba Pest Control was hired by the teen that afternoon to exterminate her apartment in Mineola.
Police said Rivas was spraying the house with a pest control solution and some of the chemical came onto the young woman.
He told her to change her clothes immediately, saying the chemicals were toxic and harmful.
While changing into clean clothes in his bedroom, the teenager noticed a bucket with a hole on his bed.
Upon closer inspection, police said they found a cell phone inside the bucket, which was actively recording through the hole.
The victim immediately called the police, who came to her home to investigate the charges.
Officers then arrested Rivas without incident just before 3 p.m.
A West Hempstead exterminator was charged with second-degree unlawful surveillance.
The suspect is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.
The Nassau detective assigned to the case is asking anyone who believes they may have been filmed or victimized by Rivas to contact the 3rd Squad at (516) 573-6353.
