Marquart Steps Up for Carle Place Frogs
Tyler Marquart has taken on a significant role with the Carle Place Frogs during his senior year. The 17-year-old transitioned from being an 11th-grade blocking fullback to becoming a vital part of the offense as a quick halfback, known for his exceptional catching ability.
“In the game against Lawrence, I recorded around 200 receiving yards, and against Valley Stream North, I had close to 100 receiving yards and 70 rushing yards,” he shared. “I’m just trying to help the team get that first down, doing my part for the guys.”
Initially, Marquart expected to continue his previous role, but it became clear that the coaching staff had higher expectations for him, and he embraced the challenge.
After a few successful weeks to kick off the season, Marquart, who also plays baseball and hopes to pursue it in college, has started to consider the possibility of continuing to play football next year. “If a college football program is interested, they should definitely reach out to me. It’s been quite surprising, but it could become an option,” he remarked.
For now, his main focus is steering his 1-3 team toward a turnaround, beginning with a game against Locust Valley on Saturday. “I really think we can bounce back,” Marquart said. “The team has shown a lot of grit and determination.”
Long Island Ducks Recognized
Suffolk County has celebrated the success of the Long Island Ducks, the Atlantic League champions, by declaring October 6 as Long Island Ducks Day. This recognition comes after a remarkable season for the team in Central Islip.
The Ducks achieved a franchise-record 80 wins during the regular season and managed to sweep the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in their final three-game series to secure a playoff position.
Following that, they continued their success by sweeping the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars in the divisional round and repeating the feat with the Blue Crabs in the championship, marking the franchise’s fifth title.
Additionally, their mascot QuackerJack was named the 2026 Atlantic League Mascot of the Year.
