Arizona Democrat Rep. Raul Grialba died Thursday morning “due to complications from cancer treatment,” according to a statement released by the lawmaker's office 77 years ago.

Grijalva was elected to the House of Representatives in 2003 and served several terms as a top Democrat on the House Natural Resources Committee. Longtime House members missed most votes in 2024 and 2025 due to cancer diagnosis. He announced he would not seek another term in October after the election to serve in the 119th Congress.
Grijalva is the second Democrat to die at the 119th Congress. Former Democrat Texas Rep. Sylve Star Turner passed away on March 5th after battling bone cancer.
