Comedian Bill Maher on Friday denounced the apparent “narcissism” of pro-Palestinian activists in the wake of recent protests that have sparked controversy on college campuses across the country.
Following the attack on Israel by the Islamic terrorist organization Hamas on October 7, 2023, pro-Palestinian protesters and activists held several demonstrations on university campuses, roads and bridges. On HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher,” Maher criticized “social justice warriors” who care more about their image than the causes they claim to advocate.
“That’s not to say there isn’t a genuine passion for Gaza, especially among people in the region, but for social justice warriors, many people, it’s more about being a fighter than about whatever the cause is. It seems to be a focus,” Maher said. He said.
“If Israel cares so much about apartheid, which it doesn’t actually practice, and Arabs vote, serve in parliament, and sit in the judiciary, shouldn’t we start with this? “With the hundreds of millions of women around the world living under apartheid, the most brutal kind of gender apartheid?” he asked. “wait.”

“Are you really speaking truth to power or do you just think you look cool wearing a keffiyeh? This is just the new Che Guevara T-shirt Another historical figure you never studied and thought was a hero, but was actually a sadistic, racist monster who fought for the worst form of government in history: communism. ,” Maher said.
“But these are small problems…small problems when activism merges with narcissism,” the comedian continued. “It’s not so much the cause as the ‘It’s me! Look at me! Look at me! And if you like how I fight injustice, don’t forget to like and subscribe. please. ”
Maher accused anti-Israel protesters of “dressing up as revolutionaries.” The comedian told activists that they cannot successfully convince others of their cause by inconveniencing their jobs and families. “And finally, a new rule: Someone needs to tell people who block traffic in the name of a good cause, ‘Nobody likes you,'” Maher said to laughter from the audience. Ta. “And you’re probably hurting your own cause.”
Maher noted that pro-Palestinian activists demanding a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip have disrupted roads and bridges in cities including New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Seattle. He said most “normal people” have children and jobs, and that protesters think they can change others’ minds by “delaying picking up their kids from daycare.” He criticized her for being “pretty stupid” and “having a certain kind of privilege.”
Maher also said the surge in anti-Israel protesters “most closely resembles” 2024 Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, whom he described as “the fat guy from Florida.” He called President Trump “the greatest high-profile whore in history” and said the former president “is always finding new wrongdoings.”
