Laura Rumer, an activist known for her far-right views, has been vocal in her push for the Justice Department to release documents connected to Jeffrey Epstein, whom she refers to as a “traitor” to President Trump and his base.
On Wednesday, Greene joined Epstein’s accusers at a press conference outside the Capitol.
One of the accusers clarified that their intentions weren’t directed at the president; however, at least one individual in the crowd was seen holding a sign declaring Trump the 47th president.
Rumer managed to capture a screenshot of Greene standing by this sign during the press conference, claiming she would present it to Trump to reveal what she calls Greene’s “fake scam.”
“Why did @RepMTG attend an anti-Trump press conference and stand in front of a pro-Trump sign? I noted this on social platform x. I’m going to show this photo to President Trump,” she stated.
Rumer expressed her belief that Greene should be expelled from the base, labeling her as a “fake scam” and a “traitor” for possibly retaliating against Trump due to not being selected as his vice president.
“Now she seems to be trying to undermine him,” Trump allies remarked. “If you’re on Trump’s team and calling people like @Repthomasmassie and @Rokhanna, you’re being dishonest to the president.”
Greene, who is part of the House GOP Conference, defended her stance on transparency, insisting that the matter concerns justice for victims rather than politics.
She remarked, “There are two Americas. One for the elite, who avoid struggles, and another for those who face the harsh realities of life. The experiences of survivors—those who have been assaulted—are often overlooked.”
Greene added, “This issue transcends political parties. It involves everyone who has silenced these survivors to shield Jeffrey Epstein and his network.”
In a subsequent interview, Greene mentioned she faces substantial pushback from the White House but emphasized that Trump isn’t personally to blame. She encouraged him to stand as a champion for victims.
“I want him to be the hero here, fighting for these women because I know he has that fighter spirit,” she shared.
The two had tangled with Rumer before, especially as the 2024 election approaches, when Greene labeled her remarks about “Appol” as “very racist.”
Rumer has labeled Greene as “an anti-Semite” and dismissed her comments as merely a tongue-in-cheek jab at Kamala Harris.
After the press conference, she posted on social media, claiming to have long viewed Greene as “Trump’s hatred,” feeling vindicated by the day’s events.
“For years, I’ve had to pretend to support this nasty person,” she said.
Greene’s office has yet to respond to requests for comment.
