Lori Chavez-DeRemer heading to Mar-a-Lago after being floated for Labor Secretary: sources

Two House Republicans named as labor secretary are scheduled to visit Mar-a-Lago this weekend, two people told Fox News Digital.

According to Politico, Rep. Lori Chavez Delemer (R-Ore.), who recently lost reelection in a close race to Democrat Janelle Bynum, is being considered to lead the Labor Department.

Her visit to President-elect Trump's Florida home could mean she is a strong candidate for the role.

Chavez Delemer's candidacy is backed by the Teamsters Union, which Trump allies tried to court earlier this year to expand the Republican base for the 2024 election.

But unlike other members of Congress, her elevation to Trump's Cabinet would not deprive the GOP of its razor-thin House majority.

Speaking to Fox News Digital, a spokesperson for Chavez Delemer did not directly comment on the congressman's travel plans, but shared a statement about the Teamsters' support for the role.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to support President Trump in his mission to empower and grow our nation's workforce. Hardworking Americans finally have a lifeline with our president. “I will work tirelessly to support his great efforts to rebuild the American Workers' Party,” she said.
