A 10-year-old boy in Louisiana has been arrested after allegedly telling authorities he shot and killed a former mayor and his adult daughter over the weekend.
Police responded to a Minden home around 6:30 a.m. Sunday and discovered the bodies of former Minden City Councilman and interim mayor Joe Cornelius Sr., 82, and his daughter, Keisha Miles, 31, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. KSLA-TV reported.
According to a police report, the boy's guardian took him to the police station, where he allegedly confessed to the murder.
Police have not yet released the identity of the 10-year-old boy or his relationship to the victim. Investigators have not released details about what led up to the shooting.

Neighbors told the TV station they heard about eight gunshots after what appeared to be an argument between Cornelius and a 10-year-old boy over a credit card charge for a video game.
Minden Police Chief Jared McIver told the outlet that the boy has not shown any remorse for the alleged murder.

In a social media post, Minden Mayor Nick Cox remembered Cornelius for his contributions to the community.
“Joe Cornelius' long-standing commitment to Minden and his dedication to improving the community is remarkable,” Cox wrote. “I am personally grateful for his friendship and the many ways he has supported me and others across the city.”
Cox asked the public to pray for Cornelius' family.
