Battles over Louisiana's congressional districts have been going on for more than a year. Former Gov. This veto was overridden by the state legislature that same year. A federal judge subsequently ordered Congress to create a second majority-black district, but the Supreme Court suspended the ruling and decided to move forward in 2022, when Graves won a fifth term. The map was allowed to be used in elections.
The case was taken up by a federal appeals court after the Supreme Court last year invalidated Alabama's congressional map, ruling that the Legislature must add a second majority black district by mid-January. was lowered.
