Louisiana Woman Charged with Medicaid Fraud After Buying Lamborghini
A woman from Louisiana, Candice Taylor, has been charged with fraud related to her Medicaid benefits after she allegedly purchased a Lamborghini while receiving those benefits. Taylor, 35, from Slidell, was taken into custody on Monday and has gained some notoriety as the “Medicaid Millionaire,” according to officials from the Louisiana Attorney General’s office.
The investigation into Taylor began when the Louisiana Department of Health raised concerns that she was underreporting her income to qualify for Medicaid. The affidavit noted that, over the course of several years, Taylor transferred substantial amounts of money between her personal and business accounts, indicating that her income was consistently above the Medicaid eligibility limits.
Medicaid provides health insurance to low-income individuals and is managed at the state level, with funding from both state and federal sources.
Taylor’s initial application for Medicaid, under the name Candis Sailor, was submitted in May 2019, where she reported a biweekly income of $1,900 and no dependents. This application, however, was denied. Interestingly, less than a year later, she reapplied using the same name but with conflicting information about dependents, according to prosecutors.
Investigators discovered that Taylor owned six different companies that collectively earned over $9.5 million from January 2020 to December 2024. They found that her accounts revealed total deposits of nearly $481,000, with more than $325,000 directly linked to her business activities.
Notably, transactions included a payment of over $45,000 to Audi Finance for vehicle financing, along with a $100,000 wire transfer to an exotic car dealership, and a subsequent $13,000 debit card purchase for a 2022 Lamborghini Urus. In addition, Taylor made several six-figure withdrawals through cashier’s checks for various personal expenses, which reportedly encompassed real estate, luxury items, and cosmetic surgeries.
Interestingly, just two months post-Lamborghini purchase, she sought a renewal of her Medicaid benefits, claiming a monthly income of $4,000 without disclosing her ownership of these business ventures. Furthermore, authorities noted that Taylor appeared to showcase her lavish lifestyle on social media.
