LPGA deserves all eyes on women’s golf after terrific Solheim Cup

Last week's most-watched golf tournament had no male players.

The Solheim Cup drew 657,000 viewers on Sunday, more than double the viewership for 2023.

Team USA defeated Team Europe 15.5-12.5 to win the Solheim Cup for the first time since 2017. Both teams finished 14-14 last year, but Team Europe defended the Cup in 2021 after winning the tournament.

That Sunday, the viewership was 277,000. The match was in Spain so the time difference may have affected the ratings, but either way, it was great to see women's golf leading the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and LIV Golf.

Women's golf is fun, and last weekend's matches were proof of that.

The broadcast also gets fans ready to watch the LPGA this week. Sure, there won't be any PGA Tour events — the BMW PGA Championship will be in the UK — but the LPGA still has a chance to be at the forefront.

The LPGA will host the Kroger Queen City Championship at TPC Rivers Bend in Maineville, Ohio, featuring the tour's top women's players.

Minjee Lee won this tournament last year and will be looking to defend her title.

Members of the winning Team USA competing in the tournament include world number one Nelly Korda, Lexi Thompson and rock star Rose Chan, who has a record of 4 wins, 0 losses and 0 draws.

Charlie Hull, Lynn Grant, Georgia Hall, Leona Maguire and Esther Henseleit are members of Team Europe playing in Ohio.

Not to mention, Lydia Ko, Helan Liu, Yuka Sasao, Linnea Strom, Gino Tytipul and Amy Yang are all winners who will compete in 2024.

This tournament is a must-see event and the stage is set for golf-loving fans to give these ladies the support they deserve.

Hull looks very confident coming off the Solheim Cup, where she was the European team's top scorer, and Georgia Hall also had a good run in Virginia so should be confident when she heads to Ohio.

The U.S. team is also riding high on a big win, with Chan playing his best golf since turning pro.

There's no reason not to watch the LPGA this week. Of course, a lot of people are going to play golf and watch college football, and I don't blame them, but at the same time, watch the LPGA and give these women a chance.

Let's give women golf a chance and help them continue to grow into a more equal professional golfing world. They are talented and the average golfer can learn a lot more from them than he could from a PGA Tour player.

Be sure to catch the LPGA this weekend. Share your thoughts about watching women's golf below.
