LSU fan takes 109 mph Tommy White home run to the head: ‘Beamed off my dome’

great night for LSU third baseman Tommy White Tuesday proved to be a headache for many people, not just Nicholls State University.

But White’s second home run of the night left one LSU fan wishing he hadn’t hit it.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, with LSU leading 6-0, White fired a shot into the top of the left field bleachers. The 169 mph liner didn’t exactly make it out of the park and instead hit the fan in the head as he tried to catch it.

“I’ve been carrying this glove around for years and I thought, ‘Okay, now it’s my turn. I’ve got it,'” he told reporters. Pat Timlin. “I got a hole in my glove – what can I say? I jumped out of the dome and came here. I got a nice little goose egg.”

Corey took off his hat to reveal his battle scar, and when asked if it hurt, he replied, “It doesn’t feel good.”

Corey didn’t exactly keep the ball, but he said after the game that Tigers left fielder Josh Pearson gave him a practice ball.

“Maybe on Friday I’ll go get Tommy White’s autograph and kiss my boo-boo,” he said.

According to the school’s website, White is batting .341 with 15 home runs this year.

“He’s one of the best hitters I’ve ever coached, one of the best hitters I’ve ever seen,” head coach Jay Johnson said on his website. “It’s great to see him continue to play his best baseball as we move toward the end.”
