LSU pitcher Kade Anderson marks his victory while aiming for a high pick in the MLB Draft

Cade Anderson’s Promising Summer Ahead

This summer could be pivotal for Cade Anderson.

The left-handed pitcher recently led LSU to its second World Series title in three years, following an impressive season supported by MLB standout Paul Skenes, who’s up for the Cy Young Award.

As Anderson eyes the upcoming MLB draft, he’s in talks to potentially be a top overall pick next month, stepping into some big shoes left by Skenes.

Anderson recently shared his excitement about playing for LSU, a tradition he’s long admired. “It’s really special. I’ve had a great experience and it feels like everything is coming together,” he told a reporter. He participated in a celebratory event at Raising Cane’s, reflecting on how surreal this moment is for him.

Though he didn’t play in 2023 due to recovering from Tommy John surgery, Anderson hasn’t reached out to his former teammates but remains open to reconnecting. “He’s a good guy, and I might answer if he calls,” he mentioned.

Summer typically marks the beginning of Anderson’s offseason, but this year is different. Having just pitched a crucial game for the championship, he finds himself in the thick of a busy baseball calendar.

On July 13, he anticipates his name being called in the draft, setting him on a path toward the minor leagues and his ambition of becoming a significant player in the sport.

Despite the overwhelming pressure, Anderson appears calm. “I’m taking it day by day. Honestly, I don’t know what’s next, but I’m focusing on enjoying the moment and seeing what the future brings.”

In his season, he achieved an impressive 3.18 ERA across 19 starts, striking out 180 batters in 119 innings, ultimately going 12-1. His standout performance in the College World Series saw him pitch a shutout, where he fanned ten hitters while allowing only three hits over 130 pitches.

The Washington Nationals hold the first pick in this year’s MLB draft, having made notable selections in the past, including Steven Strasburg and Bryce Harper.
