LSU football player Javien Tobiano turned himself in to authorities in East Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Sunday on suspicion of video voyeurism.
According to an arrest warrant, Tobiano, 19, of Arlington, Texas, is accused of recording a woman engaging in a sex act without her consent.
Video Voyeur Anyone who records an offender in their home, bathroom, dressing room or anywhere else without their consent could be subject to penalties including up to one year in prison and a fine.
It also includes “upskirt photography,” which involves attempting to secretly take photos under a woman’s clothing.
The woman told detectives she found video of the two on Tobiano’s iPad that had been recorded by a clock with a built-in camera that was placed near his bed. The Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate report.
The woman told detectives that Tobiano had previously recorded sex acts without her consent and that she told him she did not want to be recorded.
During interviews with detectives, Tobiano admitted to using a hidden camera to record the sexual acts, according to the arrest warrant.
Bail information was not immediately available, and it was unclear whether Tobiano had an attorney who could speak on his behalf.
Louisiana State University said in a statement: “In accordance with department policy, Mr. Tobiano has been removed from all team activities. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not be commenting further.”
He played in every game as a freshman and started three of the last five games, finishing his freshman season with 33 tackles and one interception.
LSU began preseason practice on Aug. 1, and Tobiano was expected to compete for playing time at cornerback.
