LSU women’s basketball head coach Kim Mulkey on Sunday night condemned a scuffle that occurred late in her team’s SEC Tournament championship loss to South Carolina.
The incident occurred after Tigers guard Frauge Johnson fouled Milesia Fulwilly after stealing base. Johnson didn’t like the way Ashlynn Watkins got in her face and pushed her away. As Johnson tried to walk away, Gamecocks center Camila Cardoso sprinted forward and pushed Johnson to the ground.

From there, a skirmish began. As a result, six people were ejected. Cardoso was ejected for fighting and will miss the team’s first NCAA tournament game.
When asked about the fight, Mulkey didn’t hold back.
“It’s ugly and it’s not good. No one wants to be a part of that,” she said via ESPN. “But I’ll tell you this: I wish (Cardoso) would have pushed Angel Reese. If you’re six to eight, don’t push someone that far. In my opinion, it was unnecessary. Leave it to those two girls.” The jaws were cracking. Leave it to them. ”
Johnson’s height is listed as 5 feet 10 inches.

“I take full responsibility for my actions and promise to continue to conduct myself with the utmost respect and sportsmanship.”
