Luigi Mangione regarded as a 'model prisoner' and 'well-liked'

After some questionable, unconfirmed images surfaced showing Luigi Mangione, the accused assassin, enjoying time with inmates at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, sources informed Page Six that he is actually a “model prisoner” who mentors others.

“Yes, he is a model prisoner,” said a source familiar with the notorious facility. “That’s what people are saying from within MDC. It seems he’s quite well-liked.”

Officials provided some details on Mangione, a 27-year-old graduate from the University of Pennsylvania, stating, “He’s been really helpful. He assists newcomers in adjusting. He’s just a regular guy and makes sure to follow the rules.”

It was noted that a fellow inmate recently got in trouble for not having his shirt tucked in, showcasing the strict uniform regulations in place. “Luigi, on the other hand, adheres to the rules very well,” said the legal source.

Mangione received guidance from prison consultant Craig Rosfeld, who has also worked with high-profile clients like Harvey Weinstein and Keith Raniere.

MDC has a history of housing numerous high-profile inmates, including figures like Diddy, Sam Bankman-Fried, R. Kelly, and Michael Cohen.

Weinstein’s attorney, Arthur Aidala, commented on Mangione’s situation, stating, “After the federal trial, he will face a tougher time at Rikers Island.” He further remarked, “I don’t want to say it exactly, but MDC is like the Taj Mahal compared to Rikers.”

Mangione has pleaded not guilty to both federal and state charges concerning the suspected shooting of a healthcare executive on December 4, 2024. Following a five-day manhunt, he was apprehended in Pennsylvania.

His next federal court appearance is on December 5, but no trial date has been finalized yet.
