Luka Doncic has strong connections to a hamstring rehabilitation center in Spain

Luka Doncic has several options for recovering from his hamstring injury, but he opted for Spain, and it’s not just about rehabilitation facilities. Sure, he could have gone to the Lakers’ training center in El Segundo or even made a trip to Germany or Switzerland, but his decision seems rooted in his connection to the region.

Doncic, who grew up in Slovenia, moved to Madrid at just 13 to pursue basketball. After signing with Real Madrid, he focused solely on his game, leaving home to immerse himself in Spanish culture and play at a high level. He stayed until he entered the NBA at 19, which probably gave him a solid grasp of the country and its language.

In fact, he speaks Spanish quite well and is familiar with navigating the area. The recovery methods he’ll seek might not be the most renowned on the continent, but they definitely offer options that aren’t readily available back in the States.

Doncic suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain in a game against Oklahoma City on April 2, and now he’s racing against a four-to-six-week recovery timeline. Reports indicate he’s considering an “injectable procedure” to speed up his healing process.

Dr. Evan Jeffries, a physical therapist, suggested that Doncic’s recovery plan may include advanced treatments like stem cell therapy or platelet-rich plasma. With the NBA playoffs just around the corner, Doncic’s choices could greatly affect both his own performance and the Lakers’ championship hopes.
