Doncic Named Player of the Month
OKLAHOMA CITY — On Thursday, the NBA revealed that Luka Doncic has been named the Western Conference Player of the Month for March.
During this month, Doncic stood out with an average of 37.5 points per game—leading the league in that category—along with 8 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 2.3 steals, while shooting 49.2% overall and 39.2% from beyond the arc.
The Lakers had an impressive record of 15 wins and 2 losses during March, with Doncic contributing significantly in 14 of those games, highlighted by a nine-game winning streak from March 6 to 21. It’s not just about the team, though; Doncic recorded a personal best with 13 consecutive games scoring at least 30 points. This included seven games with 40 points, two with 50, and he even hit 60 points in a thrilling road game against the Heat on March 19.
Interestingly, he was also awarded the West Player of the Week title multiple times throughout March. Reaching 600 points in the month made him part of an elite group—only 10 players in NBA history have accomplished this feat.
This marks Doncic’s second Player of the Month accolade for March, previously claiming it in January as well.
For context, other players recognized for their performances include Nikola Jokic from the Nuggets for October/November, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander from the Thunder for December, and Victor Wembanyama of the Spurs for February. In the Eastern Conference, Jalen Johnson of the Hawks was honored as Player of the Month for March.
At 27 years old, Doncic is currently in the race for the MVP title, entering the game against the Thunder with an impressive average of 33.8 points, 8.3 assists, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.7 steals this season.
