Luke Combs I learned quickly that success comes at a cost.
“The Zane Lowe Show” The country music singer explained how he ended up missing his son’s birth, detailing why it was “one of the worst days” of his life.
“I’ll probably never forget the craziest day of my life…it’s close,” the “Fast Car” singer said. “The best day of my life and the worst day of my life happened at the same time, which is so interesting, but so hard to comprehend.”

In August 2023, Combs, who was on tour in Australia at the time, woke up to a text from his wife, Nicole, that read, “‘I’m so sorry. I tried so hard not to have a baby while you were away.'”
“And oh my God, it was awful,” he said.
Combs said that while he wasn’t physically there, he was able to virtually watch the birth of his second son, Bo Lee.
“It was amazing to be there to witness the birth of my son. He wasn’t born yet but my wife went to the hospital and she texted me on the way to the hospital. He was born two and a half weeks early and I was supposed to come home but I couldn’t,” a visibly emotional Combs said.

“It was really hard, and I’ve never told anybody about it,” added Combs, who is currently promoting his new album, “Fathers & Sons.” “But I didn’t really talk about it on the album, because it was really hard for me.”
Despite the challenges of being far away, Combs said he and his wife were “fortunate” to be surrounded by close friends and family.
“It was a really tough day, but luckily a lot of my best friends work for me now, so I had a really great support system,” he said.

“Luckily, my mother-in-law came to visit me for a month while I was away. We have a one-year-old and my wife was nine months pregnant at the time, so it was really nice to have her there,” he said. “My sister-in-law also lives in Nashville, so my wife had a really great support system through that experience, which I’m so grateful for. It made it a lot easier. We had someone there with us, and everything worked out. There weren’t any stumbles or problems along the way.”
Combs and Nicole also have a 2-year-old son, Tex.
