Luke Doncic’s full-court lob was one of the most impressive passes in NBA history

The phrase “in history” gets thrown around a lot. yay Too often, I know. In trying to hype everything up, great moments become less special, but when it comes to Luka Doncic’s pass on Tuesday night, I promise you that’s to be expected.

This is completely unreasonable. So let’s break down all the elements of this path to understand how crazy it really was.

First, Doncic basically hits the ball end-to-end. He was near the top of the key, but this was still about a 70-foot pass and he just hacked it with no accuracy. Considering his toss is cross-court, you can see that his air travel is approximately 80 feet.

From a power standpoint, just hitting this pass on the spot is impressive enough, but hitting the button is on another level. Luka puts the absolute button in the ideal spot for Derrick Jones Jr. to put alley-oops, and he needs to put enough loft on his passes to get past Wembey, which is by no means easy. isn’t it.

Finally, piece all this together on the fly. We had the processing speed and awareness to realize this play was open and were able to execute it with confidence.

This was one of those passes that would happen in the gym for fun, but never in a game. And Luke made it look relatively easy. It’s just amazing.
