Former 2 Live Crew rapper Luther Campbell plans to run for Congress as a Democrat representing his home state of Florida.
What are his political goals? To fight “a bunch of assholes,” including Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida), former President Donald Trump, and “all these crazy Republicans.”
Campbell, 63, is preparing to run for Florida’s 20th Congressional District. Florida’s 20th Congressional District is a majority-black region in the southeastern part of the state that is currently represented by Rep. Sheila Charfilas McCormick (D-FL).
“We’re going to make an announcement in the next few weeks,” he said. Said of New York Post. “I think we have a good chance of winning.”
During Luther Campbell’s time with 2 Live Crew, the group released their infamous 1989 album. as nasty as they want — was charged with obscenity for songs such as “Me So Horny” and “The Fun Shop.”
Campbell sold separately Said Established news organization The Bulwark spoke about his political goals.
“And I’m going to fight these motherfuckers,” Campbell reportedly said. “Matt Gaetz, Donald Trump, and all the crazy Republicans trying to divide us.”
“I’m going to be as mean as I want to be,” Campbell added with a laugh.
As part of his parliamentary campaign, Campbell is planning to produce a documentary following his campaign.
