Lynne Marie Stewart, ‘Pee-Wee’s Playhouse’ And ‘It’s Always Sunny’ Star, Dead At 78

Lynn Marie Stewart, star of “Pe Wee's Playhouse” and “Always Sunny in Philadelphia” passed away at the age of 78.

On Friday, actress Cassandra “Elvira” Peterson, a longtime friend of Stewart's, announced the news in an Instagram post.

“My heart is broken when I hear the news that my dear friend Lynn Stewart has passed away,” Peterson wrote. “One of the kindest, sweetest and most entertaining women ever lived. The iconic Miss Yvonne of “Pee Wee's Playhouse.” She will always be “the most beautiful woman on the doll ground.” ”

The cause of death has not been disclosed yet.

Stewart first started in comedy as a member of Ground Ring, a Hollywood-based group of improvisation and sketch comedies. That was when she became friends with Paul Rubens, creator of “Pee.”

She also appeared in guest roles for “M*A*S*H*”, “The Golden Girls”, “Laverne & Shirley” and “Night Court.” She also appeared in the iconic 1973 flick, “American Graffiti.”

She also played Miss Yvonne in 1981 “The Pee-Wee Herman Show,” and later CBS Pee-Wee's Playhouse is a children's spin-off that aired from 1986 to 1990.

Stewart has appeared in numerous films with Reuben, including 1985's Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and 1988's Big Top Pee-Wee.

Stewart also played Charlie Kenny's mother Bonnie in the comedy comedy “It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” which aired from 2005 to 2023.
