Mace says she won’t be going on ABC again: ‘Good effing luck’

Rep. Nancy Mace (RS.C.) said Monday she would never appear on ABC again after a heated exchange with host George Stephanopoulos on Sunday.

“I’m not going back to ABC anytime soon. As I was walking, I said to him, ‘It’s good to be back,'” she told NewsNation’s Leland Wittert on “On Balance.”

She added, “I swore on the way home. I didn’t do it on air, but it made me upset.”

Mace and Stephanopoulos spoke on Sunday’s “This Week” after Trump was found responsible for sexual assault in his defamation lawsuit with E. Jean Carroll last year. They asked how they could support Trump, and a heated debate ensued.

Mace began the interview by playing a clip of her testifying about being a rape victim, shortly before she announced her bid for Congress in 2019. Mace asked her why she supported Trump during an appearance on ABC, and she criticized Stephanopoulos for “embarrassing him.”

Stephanopoulos insisted his questions were not meant to “humiliate” her, and at one point called her “brave” for coming forward while continuing to pursue the questions.

She told Mr. Wittert that she thought he was going to talk about the 2024 election, not about her testimony about being raped.

“So I was ready to talk about Donald Trump vs. Joe Biden and the 2024 general election race. The president had just given the State of the Union and all of this was going to be a conversation about 2024. I was imagining myself being deaf, but he literally raped me. You can see the pain on my face,” she said, adding that watching the testimony was “painful.” Ta.

She said, “I think every woman in this country should be offended by the interview and the response.” She told Fox News’ “The Forkker Focus” Monday that Stephanopoulos “tried to bully” her during the interview.

Mace also left the conversation with Stephanopoulos “very awkward” after the interview, saying the ABC host was “angry.”

“But, you know, just looking at him from the side was very ugly. His whole attitude was just mean. But that’s what these people do. That’s what the far left does.” she said.

An ABC News spokesperson stood by Stephanopoulos’ interview when asked for comment by The Hill.

“George did his job by asking relevant and meaningful questions to his viewers,” the spokesperson said.
