Machete-Wielding Youths Clash During Broad Daylight in Nottingham

A police manhunt has been launched after footage emerged of three young men brandishing machetes in broad daylight in Nottingham city centre.

Clashes broke out near the Nottingham Contemporary Gallery in the early hours of Friday afternoon when two unidentified young men brandished long knives. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with this incident.

Gallery employee Said The BBC said the incident happened at around 12:30 on Friday, and said: “They were brandishing knives at each other and a woman tried to stop them.”

The BBC is facing a backlash on social media after sharing footage of the incident in which the faces of three young people were blurred.

“Detectives are urgently investigating what happened and are working hard to identify all the young people involved.”

“We would ask anyone who notices them to contact us as soon as possible. Incidents of this nature are rare but we fully understand the concern it causes in the local community. We want to reassure everyone of how seriously we treat these cases.”
