Mack Hollins Makes a Statement Before Super Bowl LX
Mack Hollins, a wide receiver for the New England Patriots, recently shared that he prefers to go barefoot when not on the football field. So, it wasn’t surprising when he made an entrance in Santa Clara, California, right before Super Bowl LX without shoes. However, what he wore instead turned a few heads.
The 32-year-old approached the Patriots’ locker room with his wrists handcuffed and donned a face mask resembling something from a thriller—specifically, Hannibal Lecter. His ankles were shackled too, and he sported a red jumpsuit marked with “Range 13” on the back.
Hollins, who celebrated a Super Bowl win during his rookie year with the Philadelphia Eagles, made his way through the tunnel at Levi’s Stadium while holding a high school jersey of Patriots’ head coach Mike Vrabel. This is quite significant, as Vrabel aims to be the first person to both play for and coach a team to a Super Bowl victory.
On Sunday, Hollins warmed up on the field wearing his No. 84 jersey from the Warriors—again, no cleats in sight.
Interestingly, the jersey choice might reference the cult classic film “The Warriors” from 1979. The Patriots had a perfect record on the road this season and even clinched the AFC Championship Game in Denver, inspiring a rallying cry focused on perseverance away from home.
This theme seemed to resonate with Vrabel, who incorporated clips from the 1980s wrestling duo The Road Warriors throughout the season, later shifting his focus to “The Warriors” clips for motivation.
Vrabel commented on this, noting his surprise at the impact the clips had on his players. “It’s fascinating what resonates. I didn’t expect it to stick in the way it did,” he mentioned, reflecting after January’s games.
Even though the Patriots were designated the home team for this neutral-site matchup, they opted to wear their white road jerseys—fitting with the “Road Warrior” mentality.
Hollins’ pregame outfits have a history of making headlines. For instance, back during the January 2025 NFL playoffs, he showed up in Orchard Park, New York, for a Bills vs. Ravens game wearing a pair of sunglasses, swimming trunks, a floral shirt, and clutching a beach towel beside a mini football.
It appears Mack Hollins knows how to keep things interesting, whether it’s his choice of wardrobe or the bold way he approaches the game. Who knows what else he’ll surprise fans with next?
