“This is to defend my honor!” French President Emmanuel Macron explained to French magazines his reasoning for opposing advice to sue Candice Owens regarding allegations he deemed “false.”
In July, Macron initiated legal action against Owens, claiming “substantial reputational damage” due to her assertion that France’s First Lady was secretly a man. Owens interpreted the lawsuit as an attempt to silence her and obscure the truth.
Recently, President Macron elaborated on his decision to sue Owens, touching upon the unresolved case and referencing the “Streisand effect,” which could shine a brighter light on his family. He noted, “There was a tradition that said we should ignore it, and that’s what we initially did.”
“In France, we were advised against filing a complaint due to the risk of the ‘Streisand effect’ drawing even more attention to these lies. However, in the U.S., we felt compelled to uphold the truth,” he stated.
On a personal note, Macron criticized the media for spreading falsehoods about his character, declaring, “This is about protecting my honor! It’s nonsense.”
The lawsuit, filed in Delaware, not only aims to counter claims about his gender identity but also challenges bizarre allegations suggesting he was part of a CIA Mind Control Program and that his relationship involved manipulation.
Last year, Macron publicly refuted claims about his wife being born a man. The Macron family described such allegations as parallel to claims that the Earth is flat and suggested these ideas were fabricated and irritating.
He lamented the fact that his role entails facing “macho and sexist attacks” that generate misinformation, which affects both his reputation and family life.
These remarks came shortly after a court fined two French YouTubers for spreading similar claims, with both erroneously insisting that Brigitte Macron was male at birth.
Macron has grown accustomed to personally addressing rumors about him. Previous allegations included a supposed domestic dispute and claims linking him to illegal substance use with European leaders, as well as accusations regarding his sexuality.
He believes many of these slanders are part of a larger campaign connected to identifiable French extremist groups and Russian disinformation efforts.
