Madison Prewett Opens Up About Past Struggles

Madison Prewett, known for her time on “The Bachelor,” recently shared insights into her past, including what she describes as “secret sexual sins.” In a candid conversation on the “Candace Cameron Bure Podcast,” she revealed the challenges she faced starting in middle school, particularly regarding her experiences with pornography and masturbation.

Reflecting on her teenage years, Prewett stated, “When I was 13 or 14, a friend introduced me to pornography, and that marked the beginning of a long struggle with it and masturbation. It brought a lot of shame into my life. I often projected an image of saving myself for marriage, living by strict religious values, but behind closed doors, I was caught in a vicious cycle of secrecy and shame.” She expressed how this internal conflict felt like an endless battle that was hard to escape.

She told Bure that preserving her secret was much easier through middle and high school, but that changed when she entered college. Open discussions became possible, revealing a weight being lifted off her shoulders. “Confessing my sins, it made me feel lighter almost immediately. I realized that living in secrecy was so much heavier,” she noted.

Prewett emphasized, “I think many of us worry about judgment when we finally decide to speak about our hidden struggles. There’s this fear that friends might think less of us or even reject us.” Nevertheless, she found that sharing her story often led to relief and support rather than negative reactions.

Speaking on her journey, she shared, “Once I confessed, it changed everything for me. Even if I still recall some embarrassing moments, bringing them into the open broke the chain of shame.” Notably, she revealed that she has been free from her addictions for a decade now, crediting her recovery to “the grace of God” and her supportive community.

Prewett gained prominence as a runner-up on Peter Weber’s season of “The Bachelor” in 2020. She married pastor Grant Trout in July 2022, and the couple welcomed a daughter named Hosanna in January 2025.
