Magic’s Jalen Suggs exits in wheelchair with painful injury

The Magic's bad luck with injuries continues in the 2024-25 season.

Suggs suffered what appeared to be a non-contact injury (the team later called it a back spasm) during Friday's 106-97 win over the Raptors, leaving him in a wheelchair with more than three minutes left in the second quarter. was forced to leave.

Suggs, an all-world perimeter defender, was trying to record a steal by playing in a passing lane, but he took advantage of the bottom backside and went down.

The Magic are already without Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner (oblique injury), while Moe Wagner lost the season in December with a torn ACL.

Suggs, now in his fourth year, took another leap forward with the Magic after signing a five-year, $150 million contract extension in October.

Suggs entered Friday averaging a career-high 16.8 points per game.

He had six points in 13 minutes before his injury.
