Comedian Bill Maher slammed former President Trump for his comments about the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) after Hurricane Helen and for his attack on Vice President Harris, saying the Republican candidate was “an addict. He called him a “liar''.
On Friday's “Real Time with Bill Maher,” conservative commentator Buck Sexton, a Trump ally, accused Harris of abandoning some of her past policy positions. did.
“If you count the different things that Kamala Harris was very supportive of four years ago, there are countless things that she doesn't support now,” Sexton said. Highlighted by MediaiteLater, he added, “When pushed, she says things like, “My values haven't changed.'' I mean, this is not like an 8th grade social studies class. ”
Maher agreed with Sexton that the Democratic candidate has reversed some of his positions, but added, “All politicians do it.” Then he turned his attention to Trump.
“Trump's superpower is that he's so crazy! I mean, he's so…whatever he draws from his own ideas, it's always baked into the cake and people accept it.” He is a habitual liar,” Maher said during the panel.
“There was a hurricane thing first,” he added, referring to Republican claims that FEMA stole money from victims and was ill-prepared to handle hurricane relief efforts in the southeastern United States. , adding, “We're just making a fuss about the hurricane!”
The comedian's comments came after President Trump late last month criticized the federal government's response to Hurricane Helen as “weak.” He also claimed that FEMA did not have enough personnel on the ground to assist hurricane-hit areas, a statement that the agency's director, Deanne Criswell, said was “completely false.” He said there is.
The White House also refuted the allegations.
Maher criticized the former president for shifting the blame onto Harris and suggesting she took FEMA funds “as if they were stolen from a bank and used to house illegal immigrants.”
He also criticized Trump for his seemingly close relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“We now know that he calls President Putin on a regular basis,” Maher said Friday, referring to new information detailed in veteran journalist Bob Woodward's upcoming book “War.” he said.
“When there were only a few coronavirus tests available in this country, he sent one to his friend, President Putin,” the host continued. “If Kamala wins, this will really be the last election,” he said. Is your glue too rubbery?
He also addressed the former president's criticism of Harris' recent interview on CBS's “60 Minutes.”
“She continued for 60 minutes, and then he told her what she was doing was completely illegal,” Maher said Friday. “60 more minutes? CBS should be stripped of its license and she should be forced to concede in the election.”
Harris appeared on “60 Minutes” and was pressed about economic policy, giving the impression that her policy positions had been reversed. She was also asked about her positions on fracking, immigration and Medicare.
According to the network, President Trump went after “60 Minutes” for pulling the interview, suggesting the news magazine selectively edited out portions of the interview to make the vice president look better.
“What I'm saying is this is his superpower. Madness is so ubiquitous that people don't even notice it,” Maher said.
The Hill has reached out to the Trump campaign for comment.
