“Real-Time” host and comedian Bill Maher sparred with former Obama speechwriter John Lovett on the issue of Democrats supporting gender transition treatments for children.
In “Pod Saves America” podcast On Sunday, Maher called for a status as “outliers” that awakened not only from the Americans but from the world as a whole, alienating them from the average voters.
“A democratic position [California] The school said it had the right to hide it from its parents. “That doesn't work with the average voter.”
He later said, “And even if you have this argument, it makes you a bias, you think you just have to roll, or many people on the left think. I added the fact…that was their position. You wonder this, you are a kind of bias and this has nothing to do with children.

Lovett has pushed back by comparing the situation with gay people who are being blamed for “grooming”, arguing that treatment should not be thrown away as “a few” could regret the transition .
“But they are also a really important surgical procedure that people get for the heart. And they die by mistake and no one says that no one has to stop the cardiologist.
“Is that your analogy?” Maher interrupted incredibly.
“We can't get rid of certain surgeries,” continued Lovett when the two spoke to each other. “We don't throw away the whole of medicine. Let's make sure we do it in a healthy way. Science, research, well, yes, we'll make it clear that there are exceptions. Yes, Yes, there are people who practice it in ways that have probably gone too far, but in most cases, research after the study shows that gender-affirming care saves many lives.”
Lovett also accused Republicans of taking “edge cases” like trans athletes in the women's locker room in an attempt to “war” against all trans people. Maher agreed, but called for Lovett's claim that “post-study study” demonstrated the benefits of treatment.

He pointed to the 2024 report, revealing that research into the effects of adolescent obstruction on children's mental health has been unpublished due to concerns that it will be “weaponized” by critics.
“So, in other words, not what you said, not the way you wanted research to come out, “Oh, all the research shows it,” No, it's a mixed bag,” Maher said. I said that.
Lovett got even hotter as he argued that parents may have to be excluded from decisions regarding gender transition treatment.

“Look, we all believe that parents should make decisions about their children, but some parents do bad jobs that they are at risk. I also recognize it,” Lovett said. “It happens outside of trance issues. It happens all the time. It's terrible. Some parents are scary, but somehow the fact that there are terrible parents in the world is erased to these questions. The school keeps the secrets of the f as a baseline.
“It seems that's not true,” Maher inserted. “People are thinking that. And there's no perfect answer to this. It's a lot of knot questions and the worst answer –“

“The worst answer is not to let the government decide from above, leaving it to people, parents, children and doctors. Lovett fought back.
“You want to lose all the elections? A contest that just comes down to the side of the parents who come second and decides what's going on with your child,” Maher said.
