That was the case during Trump's debate against Biden, which led to Biden's resignation, and it certainly was during Tuesday's vice presidential debate.
Even the mainstream networks couldn't deny that Vance wiped the floor with his waltz.

In a News Nation clip, Geraldo Rivera tells Dan Abrams, “In my mind, Governor Walz acted in good faith for Mr. Vance to win this debate. There's no doubt about that,” he said.
In another News Nation clip, Chris Cuomo said, “At one point, Mr. Vance wanted to correct something about how Haitians got into this country, and he was right. But the moderator didn't let him correct it.''
In the CNN video, John King told Jake Tapper: Harris has a huge deficit on immigration. And while Republicans were happy tonight, Democrats were a little nervous that Mr. Vance ran it on those two issues. ”Tapper nodded in agreement.
In another CNN clip, Tapper said, “J.D. Vance has more experience when it comes to public speaking, defending himself, and pivoting.”
CNN's Abby Phillip also told Dana Bash that she felt there was a “clear lack of preparation and execution” on Tim Walz's side during the debate.
Bash disagreed and said: I think he overprepared. ”
