Good Company Donuts Issues Apology After Instagram Backlash
Good Company Donuts & Café, located in the Washington, DC area, issued an apology on Tuesday after facing criticism for posting photos of their donuts at the White House on Instagram.
CEO Charles Kachadoorian addressed customers in an email titled “Big Misconceptions of Yesterday.” This email, shared by a Reddit user, explained the company’s intention behind the Instagram story that showcased their product at the White House.
“When a customer shared the photos a few days ago, our idea was simply, ‘Our small-town family business made donuts that would reach the White House,'” Kachadoorian wrote. “We intended to celebrate our hardworking team and weren’t trying to make any political statements.”
A rather pathetic and ridiculous communication works in the DC Donut Shop…

But apparently they received the complaint, so they delete the post and email a long, meaningless statement to all their customers.

The CEO acknowledged that customers viewed the post differently than intended. “But we hear you. That post didn’t land as intended, and many of you took it as a harmful political statement,” he noted.
In response, the company distanced itself from political affiliations. Kachadoorian stated, “We do not support any kind of discrimination or harmful policies,” and emphasized the business’s commitment to “support and lift our community.”
The CEO concluded with a message of commitment, saying, “Your feedback is important. We listen to you, we value you, and we are committed to creating a café that is welcoming to everyone. This is our moment of reflection and learning.”
The same message was also shared in their Instagram Stories, signed by “Good Company Donuts Family.”
This incident adds to the increasing pressures on businesses to clarify their positions regarding ties to the Trump administration, which often arise from routine commercial interactions.
