Major New Jersey house explosion that resulted in two deaths was a murder-suicide.

Authorities discovered that one of the victims suffered a gunshot wound to the head. This tragic event unfolded in a New Jersey home that exploded, resulting in a shocking murder-suicide involving a man and a woman.

The remains of the unidentified victim were found in the charred remains of a house in Washington Township, Gloucester County, after an explosion early Sunday morning rattled the area.

Investigators revealed that the woman was found in her bed with a fatal gunshot wound, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities classified her death as a murder.

Meanwhile, the man’s body was located in the living room, and a handgun was discovered nearby.

Prosecutors have ruled his death a suicide by fire.

A statement from the prosecutor’s office indicated that the investigation uncovered modifications to the home’s gas lines, leading to an uncontrolled flow of natural gas, which contributed to the explosion.

The reasons behind this tragic incident remain unclear.

The victims’ identities are being withheld until official confirmation from medical examiners can be made, as stated by prosecutors.

The horrifying scene unfolded around 2 a.m., prompting several 911 calls from neighbors who described the explosion as sounding like a bomb.

Security cameras in the vicinity captured the moment the house erupted in flames.

As neighbor Susan Pinto remarked, it was “absolutely horrifying.” She hadn’t witnessed anything like it before, describing how rapidly the house became engulfed in flames.

Another resident, Jimmy Gibson, expressed disbelief at how quickly the fire spread after the initial explosion, noting that the whole house was already ablaze.

Authorities reported that two adjacent homes also suffered damage from the fire.

Once the inferno was under control, the victim’s body was retrieved from the wreckage.
