Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has lost her appeal to the Georgia Supreme Court regarding her ability to prosecute Donald Trump.

Back in December, the Georgia Court of Appeals determined that Willis could not proceed with the criminal case against Trump. Following that, she filed an appeal, but the Georgia Supreme Court declined to hear the case in a narrow 4-3 decision.

As reported, Fani Willis is now permanently removed from prosecuting the election interference case against Trump because of this latest ruling.

The Court of Appeals had previously cited concerns about her office due to allegations around a romantic relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, contributing to a perceived conflict of interest.

Despite her efforts to appeal in January, the Supreme Court’s refusal means she cannot continue her involvement in the case.

Donald Trump reacted positively to the ruling, describing it as “a great victory in Georgia’s justice and law.” He also critiqued the prosecution as a “political, lawless witch hunt,” making reference to ongoing tensions with Biden’s administration.

He further claimed that the ruling exposed misconduct on the part of Willis and Wade, suggesting that they had not been forthcoming about various financial and personal connections that clouded the case’s integrity. In summary, Trump framed the entire situation as part of a broader effort to undermine him and his supporters, asserting that this was not just a legal affair but a politically motivated attack.
