US Claims Victory Over China in Rare Earth Mineral Trade

President Donald Trump has announced a new win for the United States against China regarding rare earth minerals. Instead of depending on China, the US government has arranged for American businesses to handle mineral trade.

This year, the US has prohibited the export of intellectual properties related to the extraction of rare earth materials, waste separation techniques, and production technologies for rare earth magnets. These technologies are vital for companies like Apple, as well as for electric vehicles, drones, missiles, and radar systems.

“It’s pretty significant because China dominates the rare earth minerals market,” said Sarah Gonzalez, a host on BlazeTV. “They produce about 60% of these minerals, nearly 90% of all processing, and almost all of the processing used in the US.” She highlighted this point during her show, “Sarah Gonzalez Unfiltered.”

“With their control over these minerals and semiconductors, they are hurting the United States,” she added. “It’s truly insane to be reliant on China for essential resources.”

Gonzalez further emphasized the previous administration’s inaction, stating, “You had a somewhat inactive president, Joe Biden, who didn’t address this issue. Then came President Trump, who signed an executive order in March aimed at boosting US production and processing of non-fuel minerals, including rare earths.”

“I just want to fulfill that promise. Recently, the Department of Defense invested $400 million in preferred stock in MP Materials, which runs the only rare earth mine in the US,” she explained.

She noted, “They are now the primary stakeholders in the company.” In a related development, Apple has also committed to spending $500 million on rare earth magnets from MP Materials, which is preparing to expand its operations and establish a second manufacturing facility for magnets domestically.
