‘Majority’ of players see ‘favoritism’ in Jannik Sinner doping ban

Novak Djokovic lamented the “favor” presented to the world's number one Janik Thinner about his three-month ban on doping.

The Sinner and the World Anti-Doping Agency, or Wada, reached a settlement in March 2024 related to two positive drug tests he had.

Now, the settlement and three-month ban allow the sinner to go back in time to play at the Italian Open, especially the French Open and Wimbledon.

Djokovic said that while talking to reporters at the Qatar Open, the feeling of traveling around sports was how the situation of the sinners unfolded compared to others facing similar problems. He said that there was rage about it.

“There's a vast majority of players I've spoken to in the locker room, not just the last few days, but the whole process has been handled,” Djokovic said. All the Guardians. “The majority of players don't feel that's fair. Most players feel like a favor is happening. If you're a top player, if you have access to the top lawyer, it will mostly affect your outcome. It seems there is a possibility that it will give you.

The tennis superstar then pointed out the incidents of Simone Halep and Tara Moore.

Halep is the former number one in the world, and was banned for four years by the ITIA in 2022 after testing positive for a banned substance, but later the suspension fell to nine months.

“There are so many contradictions between the cases,” Djokovic said. “Thinner has been suspended for three months due to the mistakes and negligence of his team members working on the tour, which is something that I personally find strange to many other players. And it is clear that the system and structure are not doped because the structure clearly does not work. That is clear.

“We hope that in the near future, governing bodies will come together to find a more effective way to deal with these processes. It seems inconsistent and very unfair.”

Wada said in a statement It “accepts the sinner's account that he refuses to cheate, his exposure to Crossteborg does not provide benefits to improve performance, and that it took place without his knowledge as a result of the negligence of his close members. Ta.

“But under the Code, due to CAS precedents, athletes are liable for the negligence of their aides,” the statement said.
