Former Senator Scott Brown Targets Senate Seat
Scott Brown, a former Senator from Massachusetts, has announced his candidacy to return to the U.S. Senate, aiming for the seat currently held by Senator Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire. In a recent interview, he critiqued his Democratic opponent, Chris Pappas, comparing Pappas’s views to those of far-left figures, suggesting they are more akin to “AOCs” than to mainstream politics.
Brown previously represented New Zealand and Samoa during Donald Trump’s presidency and has characterized Pappas as someone who is out of touch with working-class voters, linking him to a Republican agenda focused on budget settlements.
“It’s not tax on tips, and there’s no tax on overtime,” he noted, emphasizing the dichotomy of Pappas’s family restaurant ownership with his political decisions.
He also drew parallels between Pappas and Zoran Mamdani, an openly socialist member of New York’s state legislature, suggesting that the Democratic party is grappling with internal issues. “Democrats now… They’re in trouble,” he said, hinting at a wider trend of dissatisfaction within the party.
Brown’s 2014 bid against Shaheen ended in defeat, but he remains optimistic about the upcoming election, referring to it as “one of the top two races in the country.” He expressed confidence in winning this time around.
“Chris Pappas makes AOC look like Rush Limbaugh,” Brown stated, reiterating his views on the perceived extremism of the current Democratic leadership.
In his return to politics, Brown has indicated that a driving force behind his decision is concern for his family and his discomfort with the direction he sees Democrats taking the country. He listed various roles he has held, including soldier and senator, and questioned what title Pappas may be seeking.
Brown highlighted issues such as open borders, expressing his desire for a stronger America. “I want a stronger one,” he added, referencing societal concerns, including the participation of boys and men in women’s sports.
He has also been vocal about his stance on immigration, declaring a need to close borders and prevent potential risks from illegal immigration. “We have a positive obligation to close our borders completely,” he stated, elaborating on the dangers he associates with unregulated immigration.
Brown’s commitment to a tough immigration policy aligns with Trump’s agenda. He firmly reiterated his position against granting rights to undocumented immigrants, referring to them as offenders who should be removed from the country.
