‘Makes Me Sad’: Former Democratic Strategist Calls Biden Interview ‘Hard To View’

Dan Trenine’s Thoughts on Biden’s Recent Interview

Dan Trenine, a former Democratic strategist, found watching an interview with ex-President Joe Biden on Wednesday to be quite challenging. In this interview, Biden claimed that stepping away from the 2024 presidential race marked a significant achievement in his single term.

After watching a clip of Biden discussing this, Trenine questioned the purpose of the interview, suggesting it wasn’t beneficial for either Biden or the Democratic Party. He expressed concern about Biden’s relevance, saying, “Why is he doing this? It’s not helping him or the party.” He reflected on the decision to run for reelection, speculating that whether influenced by someone else or not, Biden seemed eager to maintain relevance.

Trenine added, “It’s sad to see him in this position after so many years.” He compared Biden’s situation to that of former President Ronald Reagan, wishing for Biden to exit with dignity rather than facing public scrutiny.

Biden described his choice to resign from the 2024 campaign as a “difficult decision,” stating he didn’t think it would have held much weight had he announced it sooner. He insisted that Kamala Harris was a “good candidate” and acknowledged her as the Democratic ticket after his departure from the race, which followed a poor debate performance against Donald Trump.

Trump ultimately won against Harris in November, taking not just the popularity vote but also all seven swing states. Biden remarked, “She [Harris] was fully funded. I ended up doing what we aimed for; no one expected us to manage that.” He mentioned his belief in passing the torch to the next generation and a transitional government.

During his leadership, Biden’s approval peaked at 9.1% in June 2022, amid increasing inflation, which deeply affected American consumers facing high prices. Under his administration, energy prices rose sharply, driven by a focus on supporting green energy initiatives while reducing domestic oil and gas production.

As the 2024 presidential election approaches, the economy remains a critical issue for voters.
