On July 20th, Tenisha Warner made her first statement following the tragic drowning death of her husband, Malcolm Jamal Warner.
She took to Instagram on September 12th, reminiscing about him just a day before what would have been their 8th wedding anniversary.
“Thank you for your love and support during this difficult time,” Tenisha wrote, sharing heartfelt photos from their wedding in 2017. “Tomorrow is our anniversary, and I’m feeling so much.”
“This is my first time sharing a glimpse of the love that began it all,” she added. “I can still hear his laughter, and I feel how he created space for every part of me. My tears, my dreams—all of it.”
Tenisha later announced that she and their daughter have launched a foundation to honor the legacy of the late “Cosby Show” star.
“In his honor, my daughter and I have started River & Ember and officially opened the Warner Family Foundation,” she stated. “We’re continuing the heritage my husband and I began, nurturing our children’s inner light and empowering young artists to create freely.”
“This is love; it’s still evolving. Let’s keep moving forward,” she concluded her emotional post.
Malcolm was only 54 when he drowned while swimming in Costa Rica on July 20th. Reports indicated that he was caught in strong currents near Cockles.
Costa Rican authorities stated that locals pulled him from the water and that attempts to revive him were made by the Red Cross.
His body was taken to a morgue for an autopsy, with the cause of death reported as accidental drowning.
Many of his former co-stars expressed their grief following his untimely passing, including Keshia Knight Pulliam, who played his sister on “The Cosby Show.”
“I lost my brother a week ago, but I gained an angel…” she wrote on Instagram on July 28th.
Warner’s mother also took to social media on August 8th to address her son’s shocking death.
“For those struggling to process his sudden departure, remember his presence, his voice, and his smile. He is at peace now,” Pamela Warner shared.
“Malcolm was born through water and returned to it. It was simply his time,” she added. “His mission on Earth was complete.”
