Male, 54, who fatally stabbed teenager, wounded 4 young people amid river tubing fight receives his sentence

A controversial case surrounding a fatal stabbing between a 54-year-old man and several young people has ended with a 20-year prison sentence.

Nicolae Miu, of Prior Lake, Minnesota, was convicted in April of first-degree intentional homicide for stabbing five people, killing one teenager, during a 2022 brawl in Wisconsin’s Apple River near the Minnesota border. He was also convicted of four counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety.

In one particularly moving moment from the case, the victim, AJ Martin, described how he ended up clutching his intestines in his hands while trying to break up a fight. He lifted his shirt to show horrific scars left by the attack.
