Malik Nabors Questions Giants’ Strategy After Lions Loss

Malik Nabors made his frustration with the Giants clear in a social media post following their recent defeat to the Lions, a sentiment he quickly had to walk back.

Out for the season due to a torn ACL, Nabors openly criticized the team’s offensive play calling and even implied that there might be an intention to lose games. It was quite a bold statement for someone not actively on the field.

“Sometimes I wonder if they let us lose on purpose!” he wrote on X. “Because that’s just not right: trying to get two timeouts and then opting to throw, instead of running? Then not even kicking the field goal? They had to score afterward! Doesn’t that seem obvious?”

This comment came after a play that occurred with just over three minutes left in the game, while the Giants were clinging to a 27-24 lead at the Lions’ 4-yard line.

Interim head coach Mike Kafka directed quarterback Jameis Winston to attempt a throw on a pivotal fourth-and-goal at the Lions’ 6-yard line. This came after the Lions had struggled to find the end zone on their previous plays, even losing two yards on one attempt.

Ultimately, the Giants turned over the ball and allowed the Lions to tie the game, leading to overtime and, unfortunately for them, a loss. This defeat marked the end of any hopes the Giants had for the postseason.

Nabors hasn’t played since September 28, when he suffered a serious knee injury while catching a pass. Up until that point, he had shown promising stats, with 18 receptions for 271 yards and two touchdowns. Honestly, it’s been frustrating watching the team go downhill since then.

This latest loss extended their losing streak to six, making them the first team to be officially out of postseason contention since 1976.
