New York City’s Next Mayor Discusses Unique White House Visit
In a recent conversation, New York City’s mayor-elect, Zoran Mamdani, reflected on his unexpected experiences at the White House during his meeting with President Donald Trump. When asked by comedian Adam Friedland about the “weirdest thing” he saw, Mamdani mentioned a book on the coffee table titled “UFC at the White House.” It came as a surprise to him that a UFC event was scheduled for next June.
Mamdani, who described himself as somewhat perplexed, noted that he was merely “flipping through” the pages of the book while he awaited his meeting. He even imagined what it would be like to have a UFC match on the White House lawn, though he stated he had no intention of attending the event.
During his visit, Mamdani recounted how Trump showed him around the Oval Office and the Cabinet rooms, pointing out various presidential portraits. Interestingly, the White House has yet to respond to inquiries about Mamdani’s visit.
UFC President Dana White has hinted at putting together an impressive fight card for the upcoming event at the White House, which is being planned to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary. While discussing the event, Trump expressed excitement over the idea of hosting a UFC match on the White House grounds, bringing attention to the ample space available.
Trump likened it to a national celebration, stating that events would take place across the country, including every national park and historic site. There’s quite a buzz surrounding the idea, even as some might wonder about the specifics of such an unusual occasion.
Mamdani’s meeting with Trump and what they discussed seemed not just a political engagement but more of an intriguing chapter in both of their careers. It’s certainly a conversation starter as we look ahead to future events.
