Democratic mayoral hopeful Zoran Mamdani has declined to criticize a resolution from a fellow member of the Democratic Socialists of America that calls for the indictment of those who oppose anti-Zionist views.

Mamdani stumbled in his stance during the Labor Day parade while walking alongside Senator Bernie Sanders.

“My response is detailed on my website. I want to be accountable for the platform I’ve developed, the New Yorker. It’s been my focus since this campaign began, and I’m dedicated to making this city serve its population of 8 million and 600,000,” Mamdani stated.

Recently, the Democratic Socialists of America approved a resolution aimed at combating anti-Zionism. The resolution warns members that opposing boycotts or sanctions against Israel, or collaboration with pro-Israel lobbyists like AIPAC, may lead to expulsion.

Before the parade, some politicians criticized President Trump’s decision to offer a White House position to Mayor Adams.

This was seen as a distraction from what the candidates should present to New Yorkers.

“I’m confident about winning this race. I’m outraged by Trump’s meddling, but the priority must remain on the issues facing New Yorkers,” Mamdani expressed.

He further noted, “We know Trump views the law as something flexible. He’s trying to leverage his position in this race.”

Mamdani is willing to collaborate with Trump if he becomes mayor, saying, “[A relationship] could exist if it meant lowering presidential election costs or easing his life in the city and country. However, if New Yorkers are harmed, I will resist at every turn.”
