Tragedy at Six Flags: Roller Coaster Accident Claims Life

A man from Georgia, who had recently battled cancer and escaped a chaotic car fire, tragically lost his life after a fall from a roller coaster at Six Flags. Hassan Kariem, 42, passed away on Monday after the incident on the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia. His sister, 35-year-old Andrea Clark, shared with the media that he had been in remission since 2015 and had just survived a car fire weeks prior to this incident.

“He was an incredible person,” Clark expressed, visibly emotional. “The best part about me was him.”

Clark, who considered her brother her “hero,” described his unexpected death as “unfair,” and she struggled to understand how someone who overcame so much could suddenly be gone. “He had his issues, but he was healthy and able-bodied. I just can’t make sense of it,” she said.

She also remembered his dedication to family, emphasizing that he worked tirelessly to support them and played a significant role in raising his fiancée’s daughter, whom he had known since she was three. “He could do it all,” she reminisced.

In her grief, Clark condemned the circulation of distressing images from the incident, urging people to stop sharing them as it felt deeply disrespectful. “That’s just evil,” she told the media, adding that it feels like society has crossed a line.

Witnesses recounted a chilling scene as Kariem fell from the ride, with one park visitor noting that he appeared in their photo taken during the roller coaster’s run. “He was in our pictures,” the witness recalled, detailing the harrowing moment he fell and struck the ground multiple times.

The Goliath hypercoaster, known for its high speeds reaching up to 70 mph, features a significant drop and a spiral, further adding to the thrill of the ride, as described on the park’s website.

Kariem worked for Atlanta Public Schools as an IT manager, and the district released a statement expressing condolences to his family following his passing.
